Water pollution

Water pollution is one of the major issue facing by the urban local bodies. It is very constrain for the urban local bodies to tackle it. But it exists as a big fear for the local bodies..

SwissChallenge in bidding , is it possible here?

Most commonly used bidding programme here in kerala are competitive bidding. It works well in the public works department because tender excess is allowed in the PW department with out any conditions. But considering the bidding process in the local self government department, there is no tender excess allowed. Nowadays it is understood by the government that in most municipalities the contractors neglects to participate in tenders and most municipalities and panchayats to contend to make fruitful their welfare projects revenant every year, and so passed an order to allow tender excess(click here to download the order) to some kind of works. It may effect in the works of the local self government department's public works, but it is better to think for a choice of "swiss challenge in bidding process.?"

Revised project IHSDP approved

Detailed project report of IHSDP (Integrated Housing and Slum Development Programme -revised 2010) was approved by GOI and GOK for Thalassery municipality for 4 slum clusters. Earlier the project was approved in 2007 for 1.89 crores but due to some obstructions faced while implementing needed a revision for the same.The revised project objects 2.67 crores of improvement works of housing and other infrastructures in 4 slum clusters of the municipality.

The main objective of the project revision was to change housing components of pettippalam cluster , from individual housing units to multi dwelling units comprised of 19 blocks in which 4 multi dwelling units each. Thus providing a good shelter of inhabitants of pettippalam. Other necessary infrastructure and social amenities also provided in the slum cluster under the revised project. Being a team member in the project preparation team, I hope, after the implementation of the project completed there will be a dramatic change of looks and lifestyle in the cluster...

Modern Government Offices

As per the government of Kerala rules it is set up an engineering service exclusively for the urban and rural local bodies in the state on 1st january 2008. While considering the scenario in an urban city office it is seen that the majority of the files are through the technical wing (engineering department of municipality) like public works of the municipality , issuing building permits , all jobs that related with engineering , complaints related to engineering from the public etc..(almost 80 % of the complaints required engineer's reports). Naturally there will be a tendency in the engineering staff to use the advantages of information technology and such mediums. But unfortunately it is not like that. Majority of the government servants not using computer or internet regularly. It should be changed. The public servants should change their attitude and make professional approach to the job. By such improvements we can reduce the awful "red tapism" in the public service.

The Government and trade unions should comeforward to make the change by changing the attitude of public servants, upgrading the infrastructure facilities of using modern technologies and giving necessary training. Hope that will happen in very near future.

urban development

Here I am posting a presentation which discuss the importance of gender sense in the urban development planning. Actually the base of this presentation is obtained from internet and it is a study meterial but i made some changes in that but not in values. The values in the presentation is not published by any government and not any authorisation but it is from a genuine study conducted by a reputed establishment in india.
